Wedding couple dressed in blow up t-rex costumes on a mountain trail hold a giant red rose between them.

If you’re new to my blog or my work as an elopement photographer, one thing you should know is I always encourage uniqueness. Always. Everyone on this planet is unique, and I think embracing that, especially on your wedding day, is the best way to go. So when Izzy and Dara reached out about wearing t-rex costumes (actually velociraptor costumes) for some of their photos, I knew I had found another amazing couple, and wanted more than anything to be their photographer. If you’re thinking of eloping for your wedding, take note.

These two had extremely relaxed plans for their elopement: find somewhere beautiful, marry their best friend, and create some awesome photos. I love when my couples give me the flexibility to be creative and don’t have minute-by-minute plans for their day. Asheville has no shortage of intimate wedding ceremony locations, both as traditional venues and in nature, but we ended up selecting Bearwallow Mountain, a short 35 minute drive from downtown Asheville, NC. Along with their best friend officiant, who drove from Florida to officiate their wedding, we explored the top of the mountain (which was covered in fog that evening) and had an absolute blast!

When I asked the happy couple what advice they had for future brides, they replied with “Don't sweat the small stuff. You are marrying your best friend, you look beautiful, and everything will align for you perfectly imperfect.” I couldn’t agree more. And I think “perfectly imperfect” is such a great way to describe things as well.

I hope this highlight gallery of their elopement below shows you the joy they felt getting married, and their infatuation with each other. Enjoy! :)
